Apple Unveils New iPad Line with OLED Display and AI-Powered Features

It’s been just over a month since WWDC, but Apple has already dropped another bombshell. On Tuesday, May 7th at 7:00 AM PT/10:00 AM ET, the company will unveil the latest additions to its iPad line. According to rumor mills, this list includes:

  • New iPad Pro: With an OLED display, this device is sure to impress.
  • iPad Air: The 12.9-inch version is expected to take center stage.
  • Apple Pencil and Keyboard Case: These new accessories are set to revolutionize the way we interact with our devices.

But that’s not all – Apple might also be launching its new M4 chip, a little over six months after unveiling three new M3 chips. Why the quick silicon refresh? Well, it seems that Apple launched the M3 later than expected (likely due to supply chain issues), forcing them to launch all three chips at the same event.

The fact that Microsoft is rumored to be launching its own third-party silicon at Build at the end of May adds an extra layer of pressure. The Microsoft/ARM chips are said to offer ‘industry-leading performance,’ which could be seen as a shot across Apple’s bow. Could this mean new Macs? That would be a short refresh cycle for the current crop, but it’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility.

What We Can Expect from the Event

While we don’t know exactly what will be announced at the event, here are some things that seem certain:

  • New iPad Pro with OLED Display: This device is expected to take center stage.
  • iPad Air and New Gestures for Apple Pencil: The 12.9-inch version of the iPad Air is expected to be a major highlight.
  • Plenty of AI Chatter: It’s 2024, after all.

Will the M4 Chip Bring New Macs?

The quick silicon refresh might mean that new Macs are on the horizon. If Apple launches new Macs with the M4 chip, it would be a short refresh cycle for the current crop. But this is not out of the realm of possibility.
